Global Humanitarian Overview

The devastating combination of conflict, the climate crisis, geopolitics, the COVID-19 pandemic, and poverty has resulted in the number of people in need of humanitarian assistance reaching a record high of over 274 million. (2022)

Humanitarian crises are increasing in scope, complexity and severity. Poverty has reached unprecedented levels. All over the world, millions of people have lost their homes, livelihoods and lives. 

When crises or disasters occur, whether in Latin America such as the Dominican Republic, Brazil, or Venezuela, in Afghanistan, Yemen, across the East and Horn of Africa, and many other parts of the world, it is always local communities that are the first to respond. This has led 7Dimensione to expand the ways it empowers and engages local communities and its network.

In 2022, 274 million people will need humanitarian assistance and protection.

This number is a significant increase from 235 million people a year ago, which was already the highest figure in decades. The United Nations and partner organizations aim to assist 183 million people most in need across 63 countries, which will require $41 billion.
